Tim Keller writes that our fear of death is really the fear of our love for others ending.

A memory came after reading this post:

One morning at work I found a sticky-pad mousetrap with two mice on it. They weren’t dead, but were injured beyond saving. I was instructed to take them away and finish the job. I remember taking them to the river and telling them (and God) through tears, “I’m sorry, I wish it didn’t have to be this way.”

I then realized I wasn’t just talking about the mice. The memory still sobers me, but I think of the sorrow God has over the death of his loved ones (precious in his sight in fact) and find conform knowing that no one ever dies alone.
