An Exodus from Earning Love

I have a note in my wallet that says, “No man is a failure if he has friends.” ⁣

⁣

It’s a quote from one of my favorite movies, “It’s A Wonderful Life.” It was given to me by one of my longest friends. I keep it in my wallet is as a compass… to remind me that I am loved and that friendship is the fruit of love. ⁣

⁣

I’m going to be very vulnerable with you….⁣

⁣Often my motivation for success is to earn Love. ⁣

⁣

I struggle with believing people love me for who I am. Because of this, I believe if I could just get more successful - more Instagram followers, a bigger platform, more people to know about my art, my books, my work, more accomplishment - then I will finally be loved. People will want to be my friends. People will want to invite me to their shindigs. I won’t feel so alone in the world.⁣

The engine to earn love by accomplishment is a strong engine. Like it will get you up in the morning. But eventually it leads to self-destruction. I know this personally. But on the other side of that destruction is the invitation to create FROM love instead of creating FOR love.⁣

⁣

There once was a group of people lost in the wilderness. Eventually the God that brought them there gave them some words to Live by. Those words were to help them navigate this new life they found themselves in. They were given Words to live FROM love, not to earn love. ⁣

⁣

Many of us have been pitched that these words of life, these commandments, were given to us to obey so we can earn love. If we don’t follow them perfectly, we will be removed from Love.⁣

⁣

Beloved, if you’re only doing this whole spiritual religious thing as a way to earn love, I’m afraid it only leads to self-destruction.⁣

⁣

Just like a note in my pocket from a friend to remind me I’m loved, so are these words a note in the pocket of our hearts to remind us that we live FROM Love instead of FOR Love. ⁣

You can see the fruit of living FOR LOVE in the ones who obsess over the Words but have lives seemingly void of Love.⁣

⁣

You can see the fruit of living FROM LOVE in the ones who understand the Words were given from the One who already Loves them.⁣

Words have been given for your #Exodus from earning love.⁣
